A focus of CMRR research is around the development of novel functional imaging methodologies which do not rely on conventional EPI-based sequences. Recently implemented zero echo-time sequences such as MB-SWIFT provide quiet, robust and artifact-free functional images, thus promising to become next-generation fMRI tools for multiple applications that are currently challenging with EPI.
