MR Engineering

The CMRR Engineering group develops novel RF coils and Antenna arrays and builds the most advanced Ultra High Field Magnet (UHF) frontend technology required for CMRR’s highest field imaging systems in support of the most demanding UHF experiments in the Center and beyond. This requires development of extensive RF Safety evaluation methodology and MR system engineering. These efforts have  resulted in systems with up to 128 receiver channels and the ability to test RF coils in a dedicated RF Safety lab. One other aspect of RF safety research conducted in CMRR is related to imaging implants. Utilizing advanced multi-channel transmit systems available in CMRR, implant-friendly RF excitation solutions are used to mitigate the interactions between metallic devices and RF fields in MRI at 3T and beyond.
